Program Writer, Outage Coordinator, Scheduler Bargaining
Posted On: Sep 06, 2018

On Thursday, August 30, Southern California Edison (the Company) and IBEW Local 47 (the Union) met for the first day of bargaining to establish an agreement for the newly certified Program Writers, Outage Coordinators and Schedulers unit.

The day was more of a meet and greet than negotiations.

Representing the Company were Eric Ruquet, Sam Sandoval, Steve Crowell and Curtis Germane.  The Committee for the Union included Myrna Maltez (Scheduler), Amanda Ramirez (Outage Coordinator) and Randy Balmer (Program Writer).  Also present for the Union were Staff Representatives Ernie Lopez, Doug Dedea, Ron Delgado, and Mike Moore.

When the parties met, the Company was seeking our agreement to allow them to move forward to fill four Program Writer vacancies through the normal process.  They indicated that they have eight candidates that need to be looked at.

After a brief caucus the Committee told the Company that we were in agreement with the proposal with the understanding that each of the candidates be informed that the vacancies are now represented positions.

The only other item talked about was how we wanted to handle the new unit.  Our recommendation was to "Accrete" the new group into the Master Agreement.  The Company response was that they needed to talk to Senior Management and would have a response at our next meeting.

With that out of the way we went on to schedule Tuesday, September 25, for the next day of bargaining.

As you can see from the above, not a lot was talked about or agreed to which is very typical on day one of bargaining.

We will update you after our next day of bargaining.

Fraternally,
